| Q. How
does this work? |
Q. What
is a reasonable donation? |
| A.
A driver will pick you up at your home, deliver
you to your appointment and deliver you back to
your home. |
A. This
is a free service. If you make a donation, that
donation is to the Wheels for Wellness Society
therefore any amount is a reasonable one. |
| |
|
| Q.
Can I take an escort? |
Q. What
is the prefered way of making a donation?
|
| A. Yes
you may take an escort, but remember the patient
has priority and if the van is full the escort
will not be allowed on board unless the escort is
for medical purposes. |
A.
Any method of delivery is fine.
We prefer cheques as they leave a paper trail
that is best for our audit team |

|
| Q.
Will you pick me up in Courtenay and take me to
Campbell River? |
Q.
How much notice is required? |
| A. Our
minimum distance is 75 Km, but if we have a car
going your way we will meet your requirements. |
A. The
more notice the better, but we can operate on
short emergency notice (eg. pickup from hospital
or short notice appointments) |
| |
|
| Q.
I live on
Quadra Island. Do you pick me up at my home? |
| A. No.
You will have to get to the Vancouver Island side
ferry terminal. This applies to all islands that
are serviced by Wheels for Wellness. |
| |
|
| Q. Do you go to
Vancouver? |
| A. Yes, provided your
Doctor has indicated on your fully completed
TAP form (pink form from your doctor) that
you require an escort. The drivers' ferry
fare would therefore be reimbursed as he/she
would be your "Escort". Ministry
of Health policy only allows reimbursement for
Escort travel under TAP if: (1) They are
accompanying a minor (16 and under); or (2) they
are accompanying a patient who cannot travel
alone due to medical reasons.
Provided these criteria are met, we will
take care of ticketing requirements with the form. NOTE:
Vancouver trips will only be authorized if the
procedure cannot be done on Vancouver Island, and
must be verified by the referring physician.
